ARRIVAL - AUTUMN GARDEN - Ithaka series - Teresita Leal

As in the poem that inspired this series, it is the journey that counts, the inspiration, the work, the rejections, and the many changes during the creative process.

I have depicted what I believe to be the various aspects of our way to Ithaka.

This final piece represents home, arriving in the autumn garden after swift voyages, rugged mountains, and green valleys.

I placed and fused the elements that would make up the garden onto a hand-dyed, partially quilted background fabric.

Finally, each piece was stitched in place
