Bryophyte

Mosses and liverworts are bryophytes that tend to grow in moist, lush environments.

Since I live in the high desert, I find the thought of cool forests very compelling.

I drew an abstracted form in black and white, and repeated it several times over the piece.

Here the same line drawing is used as a stencil, a sun printing mask, a non woven overlay, and a printed applique.

Cut from a translucent non woven, the overlays were purposefully left unpainted around the outside to allow the shapes underneath to show through.
