Shoreline

by Sue Dennis

35cm W x 103cm L [13 ¾ ”x 40 ½”]

My walks along the beach reveal many things washed up with the tides. Shells, sea weed of various shapes and colour, little pieces of wood, coral and flotsam from distance shores. Some of the debris on the shoreline is micro plastics or items left by holiday makers.

I enjoyed creating the paler blue fabrics on the sandy beach and then enhancing the central section with hand stitching.

Materials: commercial cotton and artist’s dyed cotton fabric, batting, threads, textile ink

Techniques: hand dyed, hand stitched, hand painted, machine pieced and quilted
