Village - Integration series - the process
It took me a long time to decide on how to approach the topic for this series, but that will be the subject of another publication.
Today, I will talk about the techniques used for this work.
As almost always, I started by dyeing some fabric

I don't plan much in advance, just a quick sketch with the general idea, which may change as I work.
What follows is the placement and replacement of the elements.

I keep the artwork "under observation" for a few days, making small adjustments until I'm happy. I also take several pictures to evaluate the image and to keep a record of the placement of the pieces. This is important because the pieces need to be removed to be sewn onto the background.

When sewing, I both appliqué and quilt at the same time
